Every show welcomes new characters to the smallest theatre in the UK, for a variety of reasons: some want to try treading the boards for the first time, some are experienced actors interested in a particular role, some are new to the area and others are members of other dramatic societies who just love the social aspect of being at Beckenham Theatre, the ‘funny old house on the corner of Bromley Road’.
We have a very friendly atmosphere, and a busy schedule of social events throughout the year. Why not pop along to the next social night and see for yourself?
SEPTEMBER SOCIAL: Quiz Night // New Members Social
Saturday 10 September
A fiendish frenzy of trivia, served up for members both new and slightly dog-eared. Join us for another great night of giggles and bubbles and questions and answers. Yes there’ll be a bunch of die-hard-try-hards, but it will be a fab opportunity for any new members who don’t know that many people to experience Beckenham Theatre at its most sociable.
Whether you’re new to the area or just new to the theatre bar, come along for one of the silliest quizzes you will ever experience! And if you’ve been a member for ages, come and show these new whippersnappers what for! Competitive? Only if you want to be!
Reserve your place by emailing Emma and pay £6 on the door (includes nibbles). See you there!

16 July 2016: Theatre Open Day
On Saturday 16 July 2016, we threw open our doors to members, friends and neighbours. Over 100 visitors, including 45 local families joined us for cream teas and cakes in the garden and a series of fun, interactive workshops (details below). Tours of the theatre building took in the backstage areas and dressing rooms, where children and adults alike enjoyed dressing up in a few of the thousands of costumes we have in our extensive wardrobe.
Here’s what the day looked like…
18 June 2016 – Gangsters & Molls
Thanks to member Melanie Jones, a great evening of prohibition-era fun, games and… is that tea…?
18 May 2016 – Karaoke & Kocktails
Members and friends rocked out all evening to a selection of early-90s power-ballads and tried their hands at slightly regrettable rap, fuelled by Mrs Jones’ secret singing tinctures. Great evening!
20 February 2016 – Wine Tasting
Wine connoisseur and long-time member Caroline Wilson returned from sunny Whitstable for a weekend to organise one of her infamous wine-tasting evenings. Delicious tipples from all over the world were sampled as members pitted their palettes against each other in an effort to win… bottles of wine! A wonderful evening!
23 January 2016 – Quiz Night
Brains were stretched to the limits and winter cobwebs were blown away as members tested their mettle against member Andy Solts‘ fiendish frenzy of trivia. A brilliant night of laughter and competition, which luckily didn’t quite descend to fisticuffs over what should really be worth half a point!
