Beckenham Theatre joined the 17 other amateur dramatic societies in Kent last night for the annual Kent Drama Association full-length play festival awards, winning the Alan Birch Award for Most Effective Use of Limited Space (as the smallest full theatre in the country, it isn’t the first time we’ve won that award!)
The Best Play Award was taken home by the No Frills Theatre Co, for its presentation of Glengarry Glen Ross, while the Best Director gong went to Danny Waters from Masquerade for Tribes.
The Lifetime Achievement Award for 2016 was awarded to David Manners, of Herne Bay Little Theatre.
The Kent Drama Association was established in 1935, to help amateur drama societies in Kent. It runs a Full-Length Play Festival each year, and help societies to publicise their productions and to share useful information. The full awards list and marking scheme can be seen online here.
